Abstract
Makhul Formation comprises a transgressive sequence of organic rich argillaceous limestones, calcareous mudstones and dark euxinic bituminous rich claystones. Formation is divisible into three parts - the lower part (Makhul organic rich mudstone) is made up of organic rich lime mudstone while the middle part (Makhul transition) consists of Organic rich Mudstone and limestone intercalations and the uppermost part (Makhul tight limestone) is characterized by tight lime mudstone.
