Abstract
A multiphase pump (MPP) application in a West Texas field is discussed. The paper describes the original production system and explains the factors limiting production. Several competing concepts for increasing production are compared including a gas gathering system, separation and single-phase pumping/compression, and multiphase pumping. The paper gives a brief history of the multiphase pump project, including performance testing before installation, installed performance, response of the production system to the pump, and long-term goals of the project.
