Integrated fire modeling and structural integrity analyses of offshore modules during accidental fires has become customary during the last two decades. Normal input to the analysis are design accidental fires, and the need for passive fire protection (PFP) on the load carrying members are assessed for the given heat loads and fire durations.

A new approach is to include advanced probabilistic methods and tools into the integrated analysis loop. Changes in process layout can be suggested and the need for PFP can be reevaluated. Such an approach requires that the analysis is carried out on an early stage in the project.
