One method to improve high-speed catamaran performance is to fit transverse hydrofoils between catamaran hulls. These foil result in decreased catamaran resistance from reduced hull draft and reduced wetted surface. To develop workable designs it is necessary to size the hydrofoils to support the hull. This paper presents a design method developed for sizing the hydrofoils and two examples.
