This paper develops the analysis necessary for the computation of the response characteristics with skin effect of any induction logging sonde as it passes through an arbitrary number of conducting beds. In the present development the effects of the borehole and invaded zones are ignored. It is anticipated that these results can be used to further clarify the interpretation of the response of an induction logging tool in a multi-layered configuration. It is also intended that this analysis will help in the development of various signal processing techniques (e.g. deconvolution).
