Abstract

In this paper, an approach for verification of the bearing capacity is presented and calculations are performed to determine the settlements of a single foundation where the calculations are determined according to EN 1997, which is also a European Norm for design. European norms (EN) are technical norms that serve for the design of building structures. The foundation is a characteristic part of a steel construction of the type of steel sports hall located in Makedonski Brod. During these calculations, real static values were taken, which were obtained by the static analysis of the construction. It is a prefabricated steel construction with dimensions of 23×30 m. Consisting of 6 single-ship frames with an annex placed at a modular distance of 6 meters. The foundation is calculated according to Eurocode 7 with design approach 2, which is one of the three design approaches. The limit states of load capacity and usability have been controlled, and the results can be seen to be satisfactory. Due to the presence of a large eccentricity, centering of the foundation was performed. In the calculation of the foundation according to Eurocode 7, the following checks are made:

- Bearing capacity verification (Geo-ULS);

- Foundation sliding (Geo-ULS);

- Calculation of settlement of a foundation with the method of numerical discretization (Geo-SLS).
