The second generation of Eurocodes is in process of preparation. It will bring a lot of novelties, especially in the geotechnical design. The paper will give part of the proposed texts for Eurocode 7:202x, focused on the general rules for geotechnical design and verification of limit equilibrium. The new methods for checking structural stability, by applying partial safety factors are presented: the verification is based on the Design Approaches which are now becoming Design Cases. This will be shown through using partial safety factors and their combinations when factoring effects and resistances. Thus, a typical slope stability problem is analyzed, in order to define the relations which may affect the introduction of the new Eurocode 7 in our country.
