This paper presents the instability problems in slopes that occur as a result of atmospheric influences through intense rainfall. The main goal is to show that through the infiltration of atmospheric water, the natural moisture content of the material is affected, which reduces the initial suction and reduces the shear strength of the unsaturated soil. Therefore, it is recommended to use analyzes that include the soil-atmospheric interaction, that is, time-dependent analysis of flow and deformations. Such an approach is the most advanced and realistic type of analysis that can explain the phenomena that occur as a result of filtration, the change in moisture level and physical-mechanical parameters. For their successful application, knowledge of the hydraulic characteristics is also required. The methods for their measurement and assessment, the constitutive dependencies are presented here. Also, the input parameters for the time-dependent stability analysis during infiltration of rainwater are described through a case examples.
