This article presents a recapitulation of several cases of support structures and discussion of structural adjustments during construction works. The presented support structures are located in different locations in the Balkans. The reasons that led to the need to adjust the structures are related to certain uncertainties that are always present during the construction of these geotechnical structures. The presented cases include temporary structures such as a construction pit protection structure for the construction of a bridge foundation structure and a pile retaining wall constructed for the remediation of a landslide on a highway cut slope. Experience teaches us that surprises and uncertainties during the execution of geotechnical structures are always present, which leads to the need for cooperation of all who are involved in the project. The cases present the application of short-term measures and modifications to the structures that are not always supported by detailed calculations, but are necessary to do in order to continue with the construction works.
