Abstract

In this study, the stability of the slopes to be formed in the Soma-Deniş Field which is considered to be operated as a deep open quarry, was investigated by 3D Numerical Modeling Method. For this purpose, 4 geotechnical drillings were made in the area and based on the data obtained from these drillings, a geological mass model was created. It has been determined that clay bands will be significant weakness planes in the open pit operation, which will be up to 200 m deep. For this reason, this is taken into account in numerical models. As a result, it was determined that the general slope angle of the deep open pit should be 21.5 degrees.
