Abstract

The knowledge of the geotechnical characteristics of the rock masses in the mineral resources deposits is of great importance for the economy of the exploitation process, the safety of work and the protection of the environment. The subject of this paper is a correlative analysis of geotechnical parameters in coal deposits from different sedimentation basins in Macedonia. Data from the following deposits were analyzed: Suvodol and Brod-Gneotino (part of the Pelagonian Basin), Lavci (part of the Prespa Basin) and Zvegor-Stamer (part of the Delchevo-Pehchevo-Berovo basin). Correlation dependencies have been established between certain geotechnical parameters, i.e.: dry unit weight – unit weight, dry unit weight – natural moisture, porosity – filtration coefficient and filtration coefficient obtained in the laboratory and according to the USBR equation, for which acceptable values for the coefficient of correlation R2 are obtained. The proposed correlations can be used in empirical analyses, in the different phases of the design.
