A 50:1 scale model of a 250 m (710 ft) long container ship hull was moored at a solid wall dock in the Haynes Coastal Engineering Laboratory at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The six degree of freedom motions of the model container ship moored to the solid dock were measured with an optical motion tracking system. The mooring line forces were measured in four selected synthetic mooring lines that were modeled using wire rope and spring. The motions and mooring line forces were measured under different significant wave height and period conditions for a TMA spectrum from five directions. The numerical simulation software, aNySIM, was used to predict the model ship motions and mooring line forces, and the results are compared to the measured motions and forces.
