The normal-incidence-point (NIP) wavefront tomography is practically useful to determine a smooth, laterally inhomogenous velocity model for depth imaging. We revisit the 3D NIP wavefront tomography and extend its application to a complex 3D data with strong lateral velocity variations. For determining data-driven wavefront attributes, we adopt 3D commonreflection- surface (CRS) approach with a global search strategy. For the examples we use the laterally heterogeneous 3D SEG/EAGE salt model and data.
