In order to study the effect of electromagnetic force on the flow of magnetofluid, Comsol Multiphysics software is used by adding fluid module and electromagnetic module. A weak coupling solution is made for the flow of the magnetofluid in the external magnetic field and the velocity distribution and electromagnetic force distribution are obtained. The results show that the electromagnetic force significantly changes the velocity distribution.
Magnetofluid generator has a long history. Frank J.hendel(1979) has invented a flowing saline water magnetohydrodynamic electric generator. While magnetofluid wave energy generating device is a new type of wave energy generating device. It is different from the traditional wave energy device which has a three-level energy conversion(You Yage,2003). Magnetic fluid wave energy generating device has only two-level energy conversion, one converts wave energy into mechanical energy by using wave energy capture device (the first-level energy conversion); the other converts mechanical energy into electrical energy by using magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) generator(the second-level energy conversion). Because there is no intermediate conversion process, the magnetofluid wave energy generating device has good stability and reliability and high efficiency. There are many researchers study LMMHD wave energy generator, like Liu Baolin(2009) and Zhao Lingzhi(2009).
The MHD generator is the second-level energy conversion of magnetofluid wave energy generating device, and the power generation channel is the most important part of the MHD generator. Based on Faraday electromagnetic induction law, the generating capacity of MHD generator has relations with velocity. However when the magnetofluid flow thought the generation channel, the velocity has been changed by the electromagnetic force. So how magnetofluid flow in the generation channel is of great significance to conversion efficiency and the hydrodynamic response of wave energy device.
In order to examine the change of magnetic fluid flow under the action of electromagnetic force, this article has carried out the research under the hypothesis of weak coupling.
