SPE 11600 presents a case history of a study to determine the average properties of the Wilcox (Lobo) Formation in Webb and Zapata Counties, Texas, to be used to file for tight gas sand designation at the Federal Energy Regulation Committee. Robinson et al. summarize an integrated study of geology, completions methods, hydraulic fracture treatments, and reservoir production analyses. This study contains three examples in which reservoir simulation models were used to analyze post-fracture production and pressure data. In-depth analyses are provided to explain the mechanisms and reservoir physics behind the completions and engineering operations and to explain the discrepancies between created and effective fracture geometries. Robinson et al. conclude
