SPE 60288 presents a case history of evaluating approximately 500 wells in the Dakota Formation in the San Juan Basin in New Mexico. Sunde et al. used type curves to match rate/time data from each well and obtain productivity index (PI), pore volume (PV), initial gas-in-place, drainage area, skin, and permeability, which were then put on maps or graphed vs. time to help identify infill drilling potentials. Through these case histories Sunde et al. were able to determine the following:
