SPE 64707 presents a case history of temporary bridging materials as a drilling fluid additive to build a nonpermeable mudcake in naturally fractured tight gas sands in the western Sichuan Basin. Yili et al. summarize the geological characteristics of tight gas reservoirs, damage mechanisms, and development of temporary bridging materials as a fluid additive. They then discuss field pilot tests and the associated damage control, and reach the following conclusions:
