This chapter discusses the various parameters that are required input to waterflood prediction and performance calculations. Most of these parameters are determined from laboratory experiments; however, some can be estimated from special tests run downhole in wellbores drilled through the oil reservoir. Sample selection, preparation, and testing protocols are reviewed. The data from various published technical studies are presented, together with an interpretation of the significance of each study. These parameters are usually determined at the microscopic scale of core plugs, but applied to the reservoir as a whole by use of macroscopic engineering calculations.
