Abstract

Numerical simulators became a standard tool to integrate all the dynamic and static data and the outcome along with the right analysis techniques and experience they are extensively used for decision-making, particularly in field development planning. These tools offer the ability to consider a wide range of control parameters, model complexity, and subsurface uncertainties. In the light of the challenges posed by the Gullfaks oil field, including complex geological structures, a dense fault pattern, and significant reservoir quality variations, this study introduces the application of integrated subsurface technologies to formulate a robust conceptual model. This integrated study explores multiple development strategies by combining all the information on geology, petrophysics/ formation evaluation, and reservoir continuity. We specifically focus on investigating water-flood management, production enhancement, and maximization of hydrocarbon recovery.
