Texaco has been recognized for its leading Environmental Auditing Program. One innovative aspect of this program is the development of internal requirements called Environmental Operating Practices (EOPs).

An EOP is an operating procedure, methodology, or standard. EOPs apply in the absence of regulations or where regulations are less stringent, reflecting Texaco's Environmental Policy and commitment to 'Compliance Plus'.

EOPs were developed to establish a set of minimum environmental standards for Texaco facilities worldwide; establish a mechanism to better ensure that audit standards are consistently applied by different auditors at a wide variety of facilities; and communicate the standards used by environmental auditors to the operating departments. The poster addresses the EOP topics selected and the development process. 371 E
