SYNOPSIS.

Th, e evaluation of motor field tests is preferably based on th, e analysis of the oils user1 nn, d the determination of ch, aracteristic and extrmrous aging components, correlated to the tested road distance a, nd to the needed quan.tity of oil (supply an, d addition). In the present paper it is proposed to consider rho the piston blow-by md the influence of the blow-by-gases on the deterioration of the oil. With regard to th, e highly developed filter-methods it is adcisable to determine the contamination-rate not only by exan7inin.g the oil but also by analysis of the filterresidue. For the road tests two passenger cars with carburator engines, one passenger car with Diesel motor and three Diesel trucks were used. All the vehicles had alrendy been in, long service an, d were used unt%l overhaulin, q was necessary.
