Summary

A full life-cycle integrated approach for shale resource plays is critical for value creation and ensuring reserves and production growth. With this approach key issues and uncertainties for unconventional resource systems are resolved as plays evolve from concept screening to exploration and resource assessment followed by full development.

The integrated approach relies upon key elements which include use of targeted field demonstrations and performance analysis and forecasting using analytical and numerical methods. Case histories on major North America shale plays are used to demonstrate the evaluation process, benefits and results using a wide variety of static and dynamic geological, geophysical, petrophysical and engineering data.
