Introduction

The Devonian Duvernay Formation of Alberta Canada is a proven source rock that is becoming one of the most active liquids-rich shale plays in North America. The prospective trend extends over 400 km from the Kaybob sub basin in the north to the Willesden Green Basin in the south. In the Kaybob region, the play is rapidly moving from an early exploration phase that began in late 2010, towards multi-well pad development. With this progression companies are actively evaluating and ranking their acreage integrating all aspects of geosciences from pore to seismic scale.
