The research on modeling and inversion methods for log processing, especially resistivity log processing, has been actively investigated and developed by many over the past two decades. On the other hand, a large percentage of petrophysicists seldom use modeling and inversion due mainly to the issues with robustness, timeliness, user-friendliness, and openness of the technology. This paper addresses the applications of modeling and inversion through a practical software implementation. The developed software package enables users to effectively and conveniently take into account some of the environmental effects of concern. Examples will be presented to show the easiness and effectiveness of utilizing modeling and inversion in interpreting logs from high deviation wells. The resulting impacts on log interpretation in wells of high deviation are also discussed.
