It is becoming increasingly challenging to economically produce hydrocarbon sourced from unconventional reservoirs. In order to optimize every stage of the planning and drilling process, the need for effective wellpath and engineering design optimization is proving to be highly essential. This enables a shorter cycle times for well-planning by designing wells within a 3-D geological model or seismic volume. Furthermore, based on petrophysical log responses, engineers are able to make real-time adjustments to those 3-D models, which in turn will ensure a rapid, and informed re-planning and engineering during the drilling process. The following article introduces an integrated software solution that can optimize well placement and maximize production.
