High temperature condition is one of the challenging subjects for scientific deep riser drilling. Therefore, precise and accurate prediction of temperature profile beneath deep riser drilling site is very important for the planning and actual operation. Conventional shallow heat flow measurements do not provide temperature profile at deeper section with good enough accuracy for both operation planning and scientific research. Therefore, in-situ temperature measurement in deeper section is required for the project management of scientific deep riser drilling. Since accuracy of temperature measurement by repeated wireline logging is limited, installation of long-term borehole observatory acts an important role to estimate temperature profile in deeper section to the targeted total depth. Thus, development and operation of long-term observatory are key technologies in deep scientific drilling.
