ABSTRACT

The Electrical Conductivity of Porous Media totally or partially saturated with water is expressed by Archie's equations when they do not contain clay. The saturation equation in shaly sands required an additional correction term. Previous studies in artificial media composed of sand and clay have shown that the conductivity can be expressed by the relation (Simandoux's Method). 1 = P + Swn, Rt Rc* FRw where Rc* is a variable parameter related to the saturation. A simplified form of this equation is: 1 = p*Sw + Swn, Rt Rc FRw RC being the resistivity of dispersed clay. The application of this method was used for the interpretation of logs in some shaly sands from Saharian fields, the saturation of which being well known. Obtained results are found to be in good agreement with experimental data.
