ABSTRACT

The location of hydrocarbon zones behind casing from well log evaluation is not sufficient justification for a recompletion attempt. The producibility of the hydrocarbons must be proved through testing. The wireline formation tester provides a rapid, economic means of obtaining a test. The results of 238 tests are presented, the great majority of which were above the top of the primary cement. It is concluded that formation tests can be obtained and that predictions of production can be reliably made under certain circumstances.
