Interest in high frequency vibration recovery enhancement technology in the heavy oil fields of China is increasing. This paper describes its effect principle, the oil producing mechanisms, experiments and the pilot area applications. The technology is also compared with other types of well stimulation such as steam flooding, in-situ combustion, cyclic steam stimulation, chemical flooding and thin oil blending recovery used widely in the heavy oil reservoirs of China. We also made an attempt to simulate flow behavior of heavy oil reservoirs with vibration recovery by modifying an existed heavy oil simulator.
