Abstract
For the past five years Saudi Aramco has implemented different stimulation techniques to develop its gas reservoirs.1,2 With the growing demand in gas and the need to meet the gas processing plant capacities' the stimulation treatments have provided excellent completion means for enhanced gas recovery. This paper provides an overview of the various stimulation methods used and presents the challenges encountered in different fields due to reservoir heterogeneity' low permeability, condensate dropout and banking, sanding of unconsolidated formations' high pressure and temperature, etc., and the systematic approach used to encounter such challenges to optimally develop the reservoirs. Several field examples are cited to show the success of stimulation technology.
