Presence of mechanical admixtures in the form of suspended solids (SS) causes wear of a rotor surface and, particularly, elastomer.

Wear of friction surfaces leads to hydraulic head and efficiency losses of Progressing Cavity Pump (PCP) due to decrease in tightness of contact between an elastomer and a rotor.

Test bech has been designed (Fig. 1) to study the effect of wear rate on head-capacity curves of PCP unit. The bench consists of the frame 1, legs 2, tank 3, pipelines 4, drive motor 5, rod 6, shut-off valves 7 and measuring tools.
