ABSTRACT
Pressure falloff data collected in moderately fractured water injectors in a West Texas carbonate reservoir are analyzed using both conventional and type curve techniques, and results of these analyses are compared. The theory and application of the two methods are also discussed. The technique of Hadinoto and Raghavan is used to calculate corrected water permeability capacities and fracture lengths by conventional techniques and to determine the same parameters by type curve analysis. Included are example calculations showing the agreement between water permeability capacity and fracture length using the two approaches and between these parameters calculated for several pressure falloff tests on the same well.
