Brownfield Projects (i.e Projects involving Execution within or associated with Operational Process Plants) provide unique challenges for compliance to Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Regulations everywhere in the world.

While HSE Compliance is essential and mandatory, the associated procedures are often tedious and time consuming; even overwhelming the Operations personnel and adversely impacting project schedules. One such project is the Gas Sweetening Facilities (GSF) Project, consisting of one Acid Gas Recovery Unit (AGRU) inside the ARAB-D Plant at DUKHAN and one Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) inside the NGL Facilities at MESAIEED. This Paper highlights the measures taken at the AGRU to meet the apparently conflicting requirements of HSE Compliance and SCHEDULE Compliance.
