An innovative approach to modeling exploration and production data was derived from using an advanced, ISO standard, information description language, EXPRESS. In addition architectural principles have been developed to provide a strong structure to integrate data relevant to all the numerous disciplines of exploration and production. As a result this model is about one tenth as voluminous as in a classical structure, and provides more flexibility and extensibility.
