Through the utilization of a new development methodology a major application has recently been completed and delivered in a timely and cost effective manner. The methodology employed, combining required skills into an interdepartmental team, allowed the varied talents of each of the participants to be put to optimum use. However, since each team member reported to different management and was thus influenced by different expectations and priorities, several issues had to be addressed and resolved early in the process. These issues included among others, exact definition of the team objective, definition and agreement on the specific roles and responsibilities of each member, and the establishment of a methodology for resolving team conflicts.
