The traditional methods of testing the production of oil wells have involved the task of separating the produced stream into its components; oil, water, and gas. However, development of an energy absorption device for measurement of oil/water mixtures in any ratio has eliminated the need for three-phase separation. This technology allows the use of a much simpler, less expensive and more accurate system: the two-phase well tester.
