Recent field experiences in West Texas with the Continuous Carbon/Oxygen (C/O) Log illustrate the potential of this cased hole logging service to assist in the re-evaluation of partially depleted oil reserves and exploration for by-passed oil in old wells in mature, producing areas.

Interpretive concepts and possible pitfalls are outlined for quick-look evaluation at the wellsite and detailed computerized analysis. Field case examples, including the results of subsequent production tests in the Yates, Seven Rivers, Queen, Grayburg, San Andres, Glorieta, and Clearfork formations illustrate successful applications of the C/O Log in West Texas.
