One of the most recurrent problem in the oilfield is the removal of paraffin deposited on downhole equipment and near-wellbore. Several field experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of hot oiling for either the removal or redeposition of paraffin downhole. Laboratory work is presented that suggests the use of hot solvents has the greatest potential benefit. Means of conventional field application are limited, and nonconventional means are discussed.
