A method of selecting submersible pump equipment is outlined which emphasizes economics, conservation, and compatibility. Reduction of inventory expense is demonstrated by elimination of specialized components. The system is designed to minimize waste energy due to power drop in submersible cable. Interchangeability between submersible and surface installations is obtained by prudent selection of transformers and controllers. An installation containing 40 submersible pumps is used for evaluation of past practices and our systems approach. An economic comparison is made with this data.
