Frequency spectrum of the recorded seismic trace (2 ms S.I.) has a band width of 4–250 Hz. However, the restriction of the recording devices and the received seismic signal impose a limitation of effective band width to 10-(0) Hz only.
A method for spectral enhancement of seismic data (from 10–60Hz to 10–125Hz) around a wellbore close to seismic line is proposed based on sonic and density logs by employing Modified NM- Algorithm and Matching Filter. It is applied to windows of size about 400 ms by 200 CDPs along two seismic lines situated in different geological setups.
Spectrally enhanced seismic data shows finer events in comparison to normal seismic data and has thin bed resolution capability However, geological validity of events is yet to be understood.
