This paper will detail a study that Jorin were requested to conduct on produced water and its treatment for a client with significant offshore production and treatment facilities. This study was conducted on an offshore platform in Thailand. This study included extensive online analysis of oil and solids concentrations as well as their respective particle size distributions.

This was also coupled with a suite of laboratory analytical and physical analysis such as an assessment of corrosion and scaling issues; bacterial levels across the system; full ionic analysis; and various physical water characteristics such as pH, turbidity and temperature, as well as dissolved gas content analysis.

In this presentation we will summarise the work done, why the analysis was necessary as well as the tools used to produce the data presented. The conclusions reached based on these detailed process and fluid analyses will leave no doubt that the right data obtained correctly under the right conditions can truly unleash the potential of any separation process.
