Abstract
The Danish market for natural gas is supplied through a single 30″ and 220 km long offshore pipeline, starting at the TYRA East platform complex and ending at the gas treatment plant on the west coast of Denmark.
The line was designed in 1980/81, installed in 1982/ 83 and commissioned in 1984. The system has a subsea safety installation 1500m downstream from the platform. This paper describes the philosophy behind the design, the construction and the 5 year operational experience with this safety installation.
