The Ocean Odyssey well control project showed that it was possible to carry out a surface well kill operation by using the combined capabilities of a floating drilling rig moored at a location remote from the out of control subsea well with dynamically positioned diving support/well services, construction vessies. Novel techniques were used to abandon the well including the industries first subsea perforating job from a dynamically positioned monohull well servicing vessel.
