An analysis is presented of drilling fluid costs and a detailed time analysis breakdown of seventy wells drilled over a period of 512 years, off the four platforms in British Petroleum's Forties Field. These wells, up to 67° average drift angle, have been drilled with a potassium cloride water based drilling fluid. The effect of changes in casing setting depth over this period is analysed and drilling practices are discussed.
