The paper briefly presents some important aspects related to natural gas hydrates.

Some theoretical aspects in connection with the thermodynamic and kinetic mechanisms of hydrates formation are reviewed, following which the methods for controlling their generation during drilling, gas production, transportation and processing are mentioned.

At the end of the paper the possibilities for hydrate utilization in connection with natural gas storage are being considered.
