The failure of traditional methods to predict the precipitation of solid phases can be partially attributed to an inaccurate understanding of the molecular composition of the high molecular weight (HMW) components. This paper reports our progress in developing analytical techniques for direct determination of compounds up to C90 with readily available instrumentation. We believe this technology will help lead to production strategies that are more efficient and allow better estimates of production costs by more accurate forecasting of production problems.
