Independent rig inspections or audits are widespread within the industry for a number of reasons. They help assure the contracting operator that costly down time is minimised but, more importantly, that the unit is ultimately safe for operations. Major problems exist with current systems. There is a lack of a standard and information is often outdated before the audit report is delivered to the client. The T.R.A.M.S. system has been designed to allow strategic planning, management and implementation of the drilling unit inspection. All historical information is held within a database, which is organised to encourage the sharing of this information across the industry via the World Wide Web. The database is updated with advancement reports allowing details to be followed as the audit progresses.
