With drilling/completion developments and changes in well production rates creating greater challenges for reciprocating pump systems, there is currently a much larger "need" for the benefits provided by long-stroke pumping systems (LSPS). This need includes the ability to economically produce the required (often higher) volume of oil and gas while providing acceptable life-cycle costs/runtimes, which are frequently impacted by deviation, gas, debris, and increased loads. Additionally, lower oil prices in the past 3-4 years have also emphasized the importance of the LSPS's ability to minimize operating costs and maximize mean time between failures (MTBF).

This paper will demonstrate how an effectively designed and operated LSPS can improve rod pump efficiency, and achieve higher production rates while reducing failures and operating costs within high production/deviated applications.
