ABSTRACT
This paper presents a practical approach for predicting the Minimum Miscibiiity Pressure (MMP) required for the multi-contact miscible displacement of crude oil systems by CO2. The technique is based on applying the modified Peng and Robinson Equation of State (PREOS) in conjunction with a newly introduced "Miscibiiity Function." The miscibiiity function is designed to provide accurate predictions of the MMP. It is the objective of this paper to demonstrate how this miscibiiity function can be used to determine the necessary conditions required for miscible displacement of hydrocarbon system by CO2. The validity and the use of the proposed approach is illustrated by matching several minimum miscibiiity pressure values as determined from experimental slim-tube displacement data.
