In this paper we describe the concepts behind the GEOS software system, a new reservoir characterisation product which is being developed to provide the user with the capability to interpolate data using geological inference, visualise the resultant characterisation in three dimensions and in colour and then to provide the data necessary for simulation of the fluid flow in the reservoir. The software is aimed at the reservoir engineer as well as at the geologist and petrophysicist, and it is intended to encourage a multi-disciplinary approach to reservoir management.
